- ITR filing: Hiccups in new ITR e-filing portal, whole country is stuck-up
(www.arya-tv.com)The income tax department launched the new income tax return (ITR) e-filing portal 2.0 on 7th June 2021. However, even after one and a half months of the launch of the portal, there have been lots of technical glitches that continue to trouble the site. To discuss the issues on the new ITR e-filing portal, a meeting was held between the senior official of Finance ministry and Infosys, the vendor that provided this solution on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. The meeting was presided over by the Union Minister of finance and corporate affairs Nirmala sitharaman.
Infosys in 2019 was awarded a contract to develop the next generation income tax filing system to reduce processing time for returns from 63 days to 1 day and expedite refunds. Even after one and half months, users still continue to encounter multiple problems like unable to file IT returns for past years, download intimation notice u/s 143 (1) for AY 2019-20 and earlier years, and Form-3 is not visible on the portal.
The taxpayer could face penalty consequences for reasons beyond their control. Also taxpayer are facing a major challenge for remitting funds abroad as they are unable to issue Form 15 CA/CB. Even after one and a half months of going live, the aforesaid are not minor glitches and require immediate attention/ resolution.
The new IP portal rather than being user-friendly is turning out to be a nightmare presently, but due to initial glitches being faced by the taxpayer even after one and half month of rolling out.
In response to the queries on the glitches on IT portal, Infosys said, “We are in our silent period. Clarity on the income tax matter was provided at our recently concluded AGM”. An email sent to the Finance ministry for comments remained unanswered.
Taking note of the grievances voiced on social media by taxpayers, tax professionals and other stakeholders, the finance minister has also flagged the issues to the vendor Infosys, calling upon them to address these concern.
Then, Infosys team acknowledged the technical issues and informed that the company has been working to fix the technical issues noticed in the functioning of the portal.
One sometimes wonders on the timing for the new launch when the advance tax timing was around the corner and deadline for the completion of assessments is end of the month which has been extended multiple times only due to pandemic now timing of this glitch.

Now, need to grab attention on below question’s if the new ITR e-portal is not having smooth functioning then Why the government has launched it without having a proper test ?
And another big question “Why the previous system has called off if the new one is not operational ? Even Govt has closed offline system for filing ITR.
All these questions are remained unanswered. Exactly said it’s absolutely not a visionary action. Futher, Execution is very unplanned and rough, not expected from the Senior officials of Govt, now whole country has been stuck up and waiting for resolution with assurance of betterment.
